During the final year of my undergraduate studies, my greatest nightmare was Physics II, a first-year course. I didn’t want to retake a course I had failed three times before. There were no summer classes or makeup exams. I was faced with a choice: either take and pass this course, or skip it and excel in my semester classes with very high grades. This way, I would achieve an average higher than I had ever accomplished before, enabling me to pass my previous failures conditionally. The fear of extending my university journey due to a single course drove me to work harder, and this relentless study pace eventually nudged me into academia. I became an academic who relished working, researching, and learning. Now, looking back, I sometimes find myself saying, ‘Thank goodness I didn’t pass that course.’ I may not have passed Physics II, but hey, I graduated on time without extending my studies.
